CBSA’s Supplier Development Service, funded by the Welsh Government, recently hosted a very successful ‘Selling to the MOD’ seminar in Pembroke Dock. Our guest speakers, Phil Margerison (DSS Manager) and Arfan Chaudry (Assistant Director-Support to Business and Head of Key Account Management) outlined to a packed room the many aspects of how much easier it is to sell to the MOD now. We heard how the 'Defence Suppliers Service' (DSS) is the MOD focal point for the provision of advice and guidance to companies interested in selling to the MOD.
Mr Margerison explained the role of the DSS and provided an overview on how MOD acquisition is undertaken, and the various procedures that are in use, and outlined how and where the MOD advertises its tender and contract opportunities.
In the second section, Mr Arfan Chaudry explained how UK SME’s can access a wide range of advice, information and support for defence and security exports and detailed many of the services and expertise from UKTI DSO.
There was a useful question and answer session after the formal presentation and many of the attendees made good use of the opportunity to chat to the speakers over a buffet lunch.
The feedback from the attendees indicated that the presentations were excellent, useful and likely to enhance their business.
For those businesses unable to attend the presentation slides are available to download below.
